The digital world offers endless opportunities for young people—social connection, entertainment, and learning—but it also comes with significant risks. From online grooming and cyberbullying to exposure to radicalisation and fraud, today’s youth face an array of dangers that require careful navigation.
At Cyber Innovations, we believe that digital resilience is key to protecting young people from these threats. That’s why we, in collaboration with Bournemouth University and local law enforcement partners, launched the Cybersecurity Family Fun Day—a unique event that brings together families and professionals to learn about online safety through engaging, game-based learning activities.
The Risks Young People Face
Many parents are unaware of the full scope of the dangers their children face online. From predators who exploit young people through grooming tactics to extremists who prey on vulnerable youth through radicalisation, the internet is often used to manipulate, exploit, and endanger.
In addition to these, threats such as identity theft, cyberbullying, and fraud are also on the rise, and without the right education and tools, young people may find themselves at risk.
How Game-Based Learning Can Help
The Cybersecurity Family Fun Day tackles these challenges by introducing game-based learning as a powerful tool to teach online safety. Our proprietary game, CyGamBIT, is designed to simulate real-world cyber scenarios. It walks players through the decision-making processes they would need to follow in a real cyber incident—whether that’s identifying phishing scams, understanding privacy settings, or recognising the signs of online grooming.
By putting these scenarios in the context of a game, young people learn in an interactive, engaging way, making it easier to absorb critical information about digital threats.

We understand that the internet is an integral part of young people’s lives, and simply restricting access is not always a feasible solution. Instead, we focus on building digital resilience—the ability to recognise and respond to online threats. The Cybersecurity Family Fun Day offers parents and guardians practical advice on how to support their children’s online activities while promoting safe behaviours.
By equipping both young people and their families with the knowledge and tools to navigate online spaces safely, we aim to build stronger communities and a safer digital world for the next generation.
